Big, big day today - and the girls were fantastic all the way. Early start and to the airport with Justi, who was heading to Singapore. No queues, upgraded which meant for smiles all around (though the downside is the girls' expectations have been seriously raised). The behaved beautifully, and after befriending one of the stewards, they were spoilt rotten all the way. No sleep, lots of films and conversations. Clouds wrote about 20 pages of her journal, and (after reading it to us) Ava then ripped her one page out to start all over again, which she didn't.
An interesting moment when Claudia realised she wasn't chomping down on a bit of ice in her drink, but rather she had bitten an entire chunk of the edge of the glass and was chewing on it....no blood, and that kept us entertained for a while - not watching her do it, but the fact she had done it without realising and without ripping her mouth to bits!!
5 long hours at Heathrow waiting for our connecting flight. The girls finally crashed (on me). Easy flight into Paris, cruised through and straight into a cab. Girls laughing all the way as I stumbled through a conversation in French with our taxi driver, who was up for a bit of a chat.
The two main items on the girls' wish list for France were the Eiffel Tower and the Mona Lisa, which (given we are only here for one full day - tomorrow) pretty much dicatated where we are staying, and it could not have been a better result for our first night together in Europe. Gorgeous hotel, directly/diagonally opposite the Louvre, and the girls couldn't believe their eyes when I asked them to pull back the curtains to see if we could see the Eiffel Tower...(see bottom photo). Tomorrow - lazyish start and the off to breakfast and to wander the streets of Paris. All very happily here.
