We met Lu and Spider downstairs for breakfast and then all headed off to Piazza San Marco for another coffee. Jayne Dowd and her two gorgeous boys came up for the day from Bologna and, while Lu and Spider went off for a bit of a walk around Venice, Jayne and her boys, Tobes and the girls and I took off across the water on our own very swanky boat, to the Island of Murano, to check out a bit of glass making. Great fun, we all thoroughly enjoyed it, Tobes bought me a beautiful necklace made of thousands of tiny glass beads, and Claudia, Ava and Hunter loved the boat ride back to Venice most of all I think, while poor Ewan was just wanting to get back to dry land.
After a lot more shopping and wandering the streets, Jayne and the boys headed home to Bologna, and we had a very late lunch overlooking the Grand Canal.
And then - the much awaited Gondola ride, which we all agreed was fantastic, very peaceful and a great way to look around. Clouds entertained us all, and anyone else who was around, with some Opera. Then we wandered up to Piazza San Marco for a champers, to listen to the band play and a bit of people watching. The girls then had a quiet night in front of some English tv, while we sat at a great little restaurant out the front of our hotel, on the Grand Canal, and chit-chatted late into the night.
A really fun (and very busy) day!
